The Tahoe housing crisis is about to get a serious glow-up, and you’re invited to be part of the solution. The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) is dropping a radical community workshop that’s less bureaucratic bore and more collaborative mission.
Imagine reshaping your mountain community’s future while scoring free tacos – because yes, that’s actually happening. On July 22nd and 23rd, TRPA is hosting interactive sessions in South Lake Tahoe and Incline Village where locals and weekend warriors can throw down their boldest housing ideas.
Beyond Just Another Meeting
This isn’t your grandpa’s zoning meeting. The “Cultivating Community, Conserving the Basin” initiative is tackling the affordability apocalypse head-on. They’re looking to solve how mountain towns can keep their soul while making housing accessible to everyone from ski bums to remote workers.
Real Community, Real Input
The workshops aren’t just talk – they’re hands-on. You’ll dive into interactive activities about housing density, development rights, and everyone’s favorite topic: Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs). Want to see more affordable housing? Curious about sustainable development? This is your moment to shape Tahoe’s landscape.
Logistics for the Detail-Oriented
Both workshops offer Spanish translation, kid-friendly activities, and most importantly – free dinner. South Lake Tahoe’s event happens at Bijou School (3501 Spruce Ave) from 5-8 p.m., with Los Mexicanos serving up the grub. The North Shore event is at the Tahoe Community Foundation, with Lupita’s Mexican Restaurant keeping everyone fed.
Registration is free and easy via the TRPA link. So grab your community spirit, maybe a notepad, and definitely an empty stomach. Tahoe’s future is calling – and this time, you’re answering.
