The ice was on fire this weekend as the Tahoe Knight Monsters battled the Idaho Steelheads in a nail-biting series opener that left hockey fans breathless.
In a roller-coaster match that saw lead changes and explosive scoring, the Knight Monsters initially looked unbeatable, launching to an early 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Sloan Stanick and Casey Bailey. But the Steelheads weren’t about to roll over.
A Wild Ride on Ice
The second period saw Tahoe seemingly in complete control, scoring three lightning-fast goals in just 58 seconds. Samuel Mayer netted his first career ECHL goal, Kevin Wall followed suit in his Knight Monsters debut, and Trent Swick added another to push the score to a commanding 5-2.
Steelheads’ Comeback
But hockey is never predictable, and the Steelheads proved why. In a stunning third-period turnaround, they clawed back with goals from Robbie Holmes and a decisive two-goal performance by Brendan Hoffmann that ultimately secured their 6-5 victory.
