Winter warriors, rejoice! Tahoe’s ski season is officially dropping its first chair lift this Friday, with Mount Rose leading the charge into what promises to be an epic snow season.
After last year’s record-breaking snowfall that saw the Sierras blanketed in white glory, adrenaline seekers are buzzing with anticipation for the 2023/24 winter playground. Mount Rose Ski Tahoe is breaking ground on November 10th, opening the Lakeview Express and signaling the start of a potentially legendary season.
The Snow Forecast Looks Promising
The National Weather Service is dropping hints of an epic winter, predicting a 40 to 60% chance of heavy precipitation in the Sierra Nevada. Translation? Pow chasers might be in for a treat. With an emerging El Niño pattern, skiers and snowboarders are crossing their fingers for another epic snow year like the last one that kept lifts running well into summer.
Resort Rollout Schedule
While Mount Rose leads the charge, other Tahoe resorts are quickly following suit. Boreal, Heavenly, and Northstar are set to open November 17th, with Palisades Tahoe joining the party on November 22nd. Kirkwood, Sugar Bowl, and others will progressively fire up their lifts through early December.
What This Means for Snow Enthusiasts
For the weekend warriors and local shredders, this early opening signals the unofficial start of winter fun. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a first-time rider, Tahoe’s mountains are calling. Just remember to check resort conditions, pack your gear, and get ready to carve some epic lines. The 2023/24 ski season is here, and it’s looking like it’s going to be one for the books.
