The South Tahoe High School track and field team is absolutely destroying records this season, proving that mountain athletes are a different breed altogether.

With an epic lineup of young talent, these Vikings are rewriting their school’s athletic history book faster than you can say “personal best”. Leading the charge is junior Brody DeFranco, who’s been absolutely torching sprint and hurdle events with multiple record-breaking performances.

Breaking Barriers

DeFranco isn’t just winning; he’s demolishing long-standing records in events like the 110m hurdles and 200 meters, some of which have stood untouched for over two decades. His consistent sub-15-second hurdle times are turning heads and setting a new standard for South Tahoe athletics.

Rising Stars

It’s not just DeFranco making waves. Senior Leslie Pulido has been equally impressive, shattering the girls’ 100-meter record with a blazing 12.55-second run, a mark that hadn’t been touched in 13 years. Sophomore Peyton Conley is also turning heads with a mind-blowing triple jump of 36’ 0.5", obliterating a 15-year-old record.

Regional Championships and Beyond

With the NIAA Northern Region Track and Field Championships approaching, these Vikings are laser-focused on not just competing, but dominating. Their sights are set on the state tournament, where they hope to continue their record-breaking momentum and bring home some serious hardware.

Whether you’re a die-hard track fan or just appreciate pure athletic excellence, South Tahoe High’s track team is proving that small-town athletes can make big-time noise.
